Tyranny = Raw Milk Producers Being Arrested

11 Sep

Tyranny is all around us – including our food supply and our choice to use natural foods and medicines in our bodies.

Rawsome Foods – a private members-only (co-op) market in Venice, California, is home to place where local community members can purchase raw milk, cheese, yogurt, and kefir.  Apparently the federal government does not have enough to be worried about with the upcoming collapse of the economic system, they have to “protect” consumers from purchasing raw food products that humans have consumed for thousands of years.

The owner, James Stewart, along with two others (Sharon Palmer (of Healthy Family Farms), and Victoria Bloch (local L.A. co-chapter leader for the Weston A. Price Foundation)), were taken away in handcuffs. “The raid was carried out by gun carrying officers of the LA County Sheriff’s Office, the FDA, the Dept. of Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control“.

The charge?  Conspiracy to sell unpasteurized milk products.

THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND.

First of all, it cannot be a conspiracy if it is a private group of knowing citizens deciding for themselves to purchase and consume these products.  Secondly, I cannot believe that our tax-payer money goes towards arresting innocent people who are actually doing good things for their local communities and economies.

I have consumed raw milk (both cow and goat) for over 4 years, and know for a fact that it is actually healthier and more beneficial to our bodies than pasteurized milk.  It really doesn’t matter what I think though, because each of us should have the right to CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES – that is what liberty is – and that is why the government should get its nose out of our choice to consume raw milk.

Dear Next Generation,

8 Jun

Dear Next Generation,

It is not every day that we have the opportunity to watch an anomaly in the world – a nation that is governed by the people – slowly be eroded into a nation of economic slaves, while we continue to work and play as if nothing is wrong.
While you were dialing in for American Idol, your representatives at a federal level continued to argue amongst themselves about how to deal with a $14-plus trillion debt, a deficit that as-stands will not be able to pay present and future obligations, and the fact that with both unemployment and underemployment considered, there are between 24% and 29% of American people who are suffering from not being able to work.

While you were enamored with the latest meat-attire of Lady Gaga, your government and the Federal Reserve “bailed out”, “loaned”, and “stimulated” companies, organizations, and economies of not only the United States, but also foreign entities.  The results of this are being seen, and will continue to have devastating effects on the economy.  “Quantitative easing” is like calling an EF5 tornado a “Qualitative smoothing” – it is semantics, and a lie.

While you decided that voting “didn’t do any good”, 535 people helped to make federal decisions that affect YOUR privacy, YOUR right to protect yourself, and YOUR right to consume products that you may enjoy or that may benefit you.

While you didn’t “get involved” because you thought that you weren’t able or capable of participating, hundreds of men and women who cannot read the Constitution of the United States of America, who can’t read the bills until after they pass, and who cannot balance a budget, made over six figures while “representing” you.

While you were afraid to call out these politicians and “leaders” for what they were doing, several of us screamed at the top of our lungs to stop being apathetic and join us.

Thankfully, that moment is not quite over yet.  The opportunity to make a difference is real, and it is not too late.

RAW MILK – Let ME Decide What Is Dangerous or Not

30 Jan

In Minnesota, several lawmakers are trying to make it easier to purchase raw or unpasteurized milk (yay for representatives making laws to re-create a free market).  Big Dairy (large conglomerates of the food machine that seeks to not allow people to make free choices about what they eat or do not eat) is apparently fighting this.

Believe it or not, modern pasteurization as a process is relatively new in the scheme of human existence (late 1800’s).  That means that for THOUSANDS of years people were consuming raw milk.  Hmmm…

So, if I decide that I like raw milk – I should be able to consume it.  Just like if I would like to consume chocolate, or beer, or lawn clippings for that matter.  I, being an independent and “free” American should be able to make choices about what I do or do not put into my body.  And, I don’t want anyone protecting me from that OR forcing me to be protected.  That is simply wrong.

I believe in the powers of raw milk because I have consumed it for over three years.  I am not afraid of it because I KNOW the people who produce it, that is the best type of check and balance one can have with food – KNOW WHO GREW IT, RAISED IT, OR MADE IT.  Simple.

So, in a perfect world (which I create in my head every morning), people would learn about what they are eating and government would stay out of the process.  Yes, some regulations are absolutely necessary, however, even with all of the protections we already have, there are slip-ups and mistakes and people who get sick and die.  That is a process of life, and we need to understand that – we are human.

And, as a human being exercising a free will to as I like with my body, brain, and soul – I can tell you that raw milk should be able to be bought and sold where we the people demand it.

Raw Milk – Let the Consumer to Decide

28 Apr

– Tisha Casida

I have been involved with several raw milk producers, and for a period of time owned my own share of raw milk in Southern Colorado.  Because of the growing awareness about the potential benefits of raw milk consumption, there is another unfortunate issue that is coming up in the echelons of Congress and the FDA.

The issues are the following: regulation [21 CFR 1240.61(a)] and statute [42 USC 264(a)].

Regulation 21 CFR 1240.61(a) states “no person shall cause to be delivered into interstate commerce or shall sell, otherwise distribute, or hold for sale or other distribution after shipment in interstate commerce any milk or milk product in final package form for direct human consumption unless the product has been pasteurized.”

Statute 42 USC 264(a) states, “The Surgeon General, with the approval of the Secretary, is authorized to make and enforce such regulations as in his judgment are necessary to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of communicable diseases…from one state or possession into any other state or possession.”

These (in theory) are supposed to protect consumers from sickness and disease.  The problem is that the heavy hand of government, with such regulations, can stifle consumer choice and actually hurt the health of consumers who have experienced benefits (not to mention the effect on local economies).

At the end of the day, we need our free markets back, where consumers can make their own purchasing decisions – buyer beware.  I am an adult, and I would like the responsibility of deciding both what to purchase and to ingest.  In the case of raw milk, it has been tremendously beneficial to my health and well-being, and therefore, I want to be able to purchase this from local producers who I know and trust.

Be cognizant of what they are doing with your choices!
